News at FAMMS
Welcome Mrs. Simmons, FAMMS Principal
We are excited to announce that Mrs. Cheryl Simmons has been selected as the new principal of Frank Augustus Miller Middle School. Mrs. Simmons received her Bachelors of Social Science and her Administrative Credential at the University of California, Riverside. In 1996, Mrs. Simmons became an Assistant Principal at Arlington High School and then in 1998 at the Educational Options Center. In 2003 she began as the principal of the Educational Options School. In 2009 she became the Director of Secondary Education which is the position she currently holds. Mrs. Simmons is excited about getting back to the school site and working directly with students and staff. She begins at Frank Augustus Miller Middle School on Monday, October 27th. We hope you will have the chance to meet Mrs. Simmons very soon and welcome her into the FAMMily!

  • Free flu shots offered at Central Registration Center

    Thanks to both the County of Riverside Department of Public Health and the California Department of Public Health, the Riverside Unified School District CRC Health Center is offering FREE flu vaccine to anyone who would like to get protected against the flu. We are offering the vaccine to all RUSD employees, students and their families; regardless if you have health insurance or not. Walk-in hours to receive a flu vaccine are from 1:30-4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. No appointment is necessary. The CRC Health Center is located at 5700 Arlington Avenue, Riverside. If you have any questions please call (951) 274-4213 x83026.

  • End of Qtr. 1, NO SCHOOL for Students

    The end of Quarter 1 is quickly approaching. There will be no school for MIDDLE SCHOOL students in RUSD on Friday, October 24, 2014 as this is a grading day for teachers (please be aware that school IS in session as normal for RUSD elementary and high schools). Enjoy the three day weekend! Please be aware that students should have any missing assignments and/or late work turned in to their teachers by Monday, October 20th to allow teachers time to grade these assignments prior to completing Qtr. 1 Report Card grades.

  • Halloween Dance

    FAMMS will have a costume dance on Friday, October 31st , from 2:00 - 4:00 PM. Students may wear their costume to school on Halloween. Dress code does apply to costumes during the school day AND at the dance– see page 20-21 of the Student Planner. Students should not wear a mask, anything bloody or gory, NO WEAPONS or LOOK-A-LIKE WEAPONS. Tickets will be on sale during lunch the week of 10/27/14. Permission slips will go home on Monday, October 27th, during 7th period and will also be available in the office and on the school website.

  • What is the Aeries Portal?

    The Aeries Portal allows parents and students to monitor grades, missing assignments, and late work in “real time” from any internet connected device. Aeries should be checked daily to monitor student progress. Please see directions to the left to create an account. Please contact the main office for the verification code required for account creation.

  • What is Haiku?

    RUSD uses Haiku, an online learning management system, that allows parents to stay in communication with teachers regarding classroom assignments and policies. All teachers at FAMMS have a Haiku web-page. Content on pages will vary by teacher or department. In general, parents will have access to: the course syllabus, grading practices, biographical teacher information, contact information, classwork and homework assignments, teacher created notes and handouts that often may be downloaded to view or print, helpful course-related links and class calendars. Please click on the Parents tab above for information on creating a parent Haiku account.

  • Wednesday Planning Days

    Please be aware that beginning with the 2014/15 school year, every WEDNESDAY will be an early release day for students, school dismisses at 12:05 PM. School busses run accordingly on Wednesday's. The early release day allows for teacher/school planning time. Please mark your calendars accordingly and make any necessary transportation or after-school care arrangements. Please click on the Champions link to the right for information on our after-school programs. Thank you!

  • School Spirit Days

    Don’t forget that every Wednesday is a Spirit Day at Frank Augustus Miller Middle School. With our focus on exposing ALL students to College and their academic life/plans after High School, we have made Wednesday a day where the students can wear their favorite College Team/University Wear. Every Friday is our school spirit day, please wear our school colors of turquoise and yellow. PLEASE support the Spirit at Frank Augustus Miller!

  • Box Tops for Education

    Frank Augustus Miller Middle School PTSA is collecting Box Tops for Education. This is a great way to earn money for FAMMS, just by collecting General Mills Box Tops. Here are some examples of the various vendors who offer Box Tops. Each 7th period class has a wrapped box to put box tops in. Thank you for your participation and bring in those box tops!

    ELECTRONICS RECYCLED HERE! Turn in your old ink & laser cartridges, cell phones, gaming systems, ipods, GPS devices, DVD’s, PDA’s, Digital Cameras, Laptops, iPads, Tablets and eReaders. Collection box is located in the Library.
